Investor Alert: FSC Mauritius Flags Unlicensed Entity "DistributeX"
The Financial Services Commission (FSC) Mauritius has issued a public warning concerning an entity operating under the name DistributeX, urging consumers to exercise caution before engaging with the platform.
What the FSC Alert Says
According to the FSC's Investor Alert dated 30 April 2026, DistributeX advertises itself online as offering comprehensive marketing support for global cryptocurrency brand positioning, presenting itself as having in-depth knowledge of the crypto market ecosystem and marketing strategy. The entity has also reportedly been inviting members of the public to attend gatherings described as "official employee meetings."
Critically, the FSC has confirmed that DistributeX — along with any individuals, representatives, or promoter groups operating under that name — has never been licensed or regulated by the FSC, at any point in time.
Why This Matters
Unlicensed entities that mimic the language and structure of regulated financial or marketing service providers are a recurring pattern in crypto-related investment schemes. Tactics such as hosting "employee meetings" for the public, or implying regulatory legitimacy without actual authorisation, are common red flags used to build false credibility and encourage participation.
Guidance for Investors and Consumers
The FSC recommends the following steps before engaging with any entity claiming to be licensed, authorised, or registered in Mauritius:
Verify licensing status using the FSC's Online Public Register of Licensees:https://opr.fscmauritius.org/ords/opr/r/fsc-opr/fsc-online-public-register-opr
Report suspicious activity relating to DistributeX or similar entities through the FSC's Online Complaints Portal:https://complaints.fscmauritius.org/
Our Take
As always, we encourage our community to treat unsolicited invitations, crypto "brand positioning" pitches, and claims of regulatory backing with healthy skepticism. Due diligence — starting with a quick check of the official regulator's register — remains the single most effective safeguard against this type of scheme.
